Pianoduo Recital in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel – ‘One Composition, Two Worlds: Piano vs. Orchestra’

One Composition, Two Worlds: Piano vs. Orchestra

Piano Duo Recital

This programme explores compositions that exist in both piano and orchestral forms—some originally written for piano and later orchestrated, others the reverse. Through our performance as NamasDuo Piano, we aim to explore the idea of creating orchestral sounds on the piano while at the same time celebrating the instrument’s unique expressive qualities. We find this duality and the discovery of orchestral soundscape on the piano particularly fascinating!

Programme:

Johannes Brahms – Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Op. 56b

Maurice Ravel – Ma mère l’Oye

Nikolai Kapustin – Sinfonietta, Op. 49

We invite you to immerse yourself in a sonic journey, exploring the orchestral possibilities hidden within these pieces. If you are familiar with both versions, we challenge you to decide: which speaks to you more—the piano or the orchestra?
